Rural Scholarships

There are numerous scholarships on offer this year for students who:

  • Live in rural or remote areas
  • Are going on placement in a rural or remote area
  • Are of Indigenous background
  • Are passionate for the field and want to work in rural areas in the future

Give Them Wings

All first year dentistry and oral health students from rural/regional Victoria are encouraged to apply for the 2017 Give Them Wings scholarship, valued at $2,500 plus a Royal Flying Doctor experience.

Go Rural

Applications are open for an opportunity to participate in the 2017 Go Rural program and to become a delegate in the Compass Teaching and Learning Conference 2017. Six successful applicants will be chosen to travel to the Northern Territory from 14 – 20 March 2017 and participate in unique experiences in a rural setting. Some expenses, including travel and accommodation, are paid for on the trip. ADA Grants for Rural and Remote Dental Students

Seven grants, worth $5000 each, are available each year for rural and remote students from Victoria, new South Wales, South Australia, the Northern Territory, Western Australia, Queensland and Tasmania. One grant is awarded to each state or territory.

Applicants, who must be either Australian citizens or permanent residents resident in a rural or remote region, and who are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate entry dental degree, should include a declaration, not exceeding 150 words, with their application explaining why they should be awarded the study grant and outlining their future goals and career directions.

Successful applicants will be selected by a panel consisting of the President of the ADA, the Vice President and the Chief Executive Officer.

ADA Grants for Indigenous Dental Students

Five grants, each worth $5000, are awarded each year.

Applicants, who must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, should include a declaration, not exceeding 150 words, with their application explaining why they should be awarded the study grant and outlining their future goals and career directions. Applications can be obtained from the Deans of the dental schools or by downloading the form below.

Successful applicants will be selected by a panel consisting of the President of the ADA, the Vice President and the Chief Executive Officer.

SARRAH: Nursing and Allied Health Scholarships

There will be a limited round of Allied Health scholarships for the 2017 academic year, with funding covering a 12 month period only. SARRAH will open applications for scholarships for the following scholarship streams. Please visit respective scholarship pages for more information.

Allied Health Clinical Placement Scholarship Scheme (AHCPSS)

The Australian Government aims to consolidate and build on workforce programs to ensure they better align with, and are able to respond to the needs of health professionals to train and practice, particularly in clinical areas and locations of particular need. The NAHSSS Allied Health Clinical Placement Scholarships are open to allied health students enrolled in an eligible allied health professions listed here

The next round of applications open for clinical placements that take place from 1 January to 31 December 2017.

Temora Shire Council Scholarship (applicable for CSU Students)

Foundation Scholarship
Temora offers all the benefits of country living with a comprehensive range of quality affordable services. Strategically positioned in the heart of the State’s rich sheep-wheat belt, Temora Shire’s diversity and strength of agriculture is the foundation of the local economy. This scholarship supports residents of the Temora Local Government Area studying a non agriculture -related degree.

NSW Regional Dentistry Scholarship

The NSW Regional Dentistry Scholarship aims to support a student with strong links to regional New South Wales to train for a professional dental career. The scholarship is awarded annually to a student commencing dentistry studies.
The one-year scholarship has a value of $4,800. The scholarship holder will also have access to mentoring support from an experienced dentist who is based in regional New South Wales. The NSW Regional Dentistry Scholarship is supported by Senator John Williams, The Nationals Senator for NSW, and is administered by the National Rural Health Alliance.
