Blood Drive 2017
One of the most selfless acts we can do as students is to donate blood. Donating blood helps to irreversibly change the life of someone, and a donation can be the difference between life and death. ADSA has participated in the Health Student’s Blood Challenge for the past few years, and have competed fiercely with medical students from AMSA and pharmacy students from NAPSA. In total, the Red Cross received 2763 donations from all three student associations, helping them continue to provide blood to those most at need.
Unfortunately, we placed third in the Health Student’s Blood Challenge, behind AMSA (first place) and NAPSA (2nd place), but on the bright side, 152 ADSA Volunteers rolled up their sleeves and saved 456 lives in 2017.
We would like to congratulate La Trobe University on being the most improved group in Victoria, increasing their donations by a factor of 109% from their 2016 donations.
Keep up the good work ADSA, and let’s try to beat AMSA and NAPSA next year by donating even more blood. If you still want to give blood and are unsure about doing so, feel free to contact the Australian Red Cross at 13 14 95 to take the first step to saving a life.
